About Stanley Stables

Stanley Stables is an equine program in Chico, Ca.

We offer a private Horse Riding Program and a private Equine Mentorship program.

The word Selah  is the primary value of our Stables. In biblical terms Selah means to pause, listen and reflect. Growing skills through taking the time to pause, reflect and put reflection into actions is the foundation for all our programs

Through our programs we offer children, adults and groups an opportunity to experience connection, growth and fun through taking a moment to Selah with horses.

Meet The Leaders

Get to know the family behind Stanley Stables and the Selah Ministry

Meet the Wanink's; Tamara and Matt plus their two kids, Finn and Hayley. In 2021 they had the amazing opportunity to purchase the Stanley property from Tamara's mom. Since receiving this blessing it has been on their hearts to find a way to use it to serve their community. After years of prayer, the Lord has finally called them to open up an equine ministry.

Tamara is the leader of the horse ministry, while Matt is a jack of all trades and learns pretty much any skill needed to make sure the barn and horses are cared for. Their two kids are great at getting the horses and animals accustomed to loud noises and gentle for all the kids. They get to try out all the horse activities and art projects to make sure they are engaging for kids.

Tamara grew up showing and riding Quarter Horses, Her horses were an

impactful part of her childhood as both amazing teachers of life skills and a source of comfort throughout the ups and downs of life. She always dreamed of someday opening up a horse ranch full of horses that could

be used to to teach, bring comfort and provide others with an opportunity

Meet the Leaders

to experience horses that otherwise may never get a chance to be around a horse. Though her journey in life took her to many different places, the dream never faded. Professionally she has worked as a Behavioral Analyst, Special Education Teacher and Preschool Director at a Christ centered preschool. Prior to all that she was a Christian missionary in Eastern Europe, a ski instructor and made jewelry. To run the equine program she pulls skills from all of these area's. She is a strong believer in Jesus, the power of prayer and Selah in helping individuals find their value, purpose and healing. Finding time to pause, listen and reflect alongside horses and fresh air is what they hope you will experience while visiting Stanley Stables.
